Monroe County is one of the ten Clean Sweep sites in the State of Michigan.  Clean Sweep is a free program which provides proper disposal options for pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and mercury.  The Monroe County MSU Extension Office provides Clean Sweep Collection events and also accepts materials by appointment.  For more information contact the Extension Office.

The EPA and the Michigan Department of Agriculture both provide great resources on agricultural sustainability.

Clean Sweep Collection events are scheduled yearly.  Appointments are required and can be made by calling (734) 240-3170.

To date this program has collected more than 150,000 pounds of old, unusable pesticides, or no longer labeled pesticides from farmers, homeowners, hospitals, golf courses and other businesses at no charge.

Do you want to learn more about home farming?  Triscuit and Urban Farming have teamed up to develop a website full of helpful information to help novice and experienced farmers grow delicious, fresh and healthy food at their own homes.  For more information visit the home FARMING website.
